Kaleidoscope lapis sky
Waves of sound fall like feathers
of mosaic clouds
burst birdsong into melody
Bamboo windows weave light
Tympani of pottery seek succulents
of tender sanctuary
Wild whisper of tender wisteria tendrils
Wisdom witch dance rhythmic rain song
Storm rage wild tsunami
Spin story like starred webs
Sing driftwood drums into space
Ripples of mystery like rain
Pitzacatto staccato soft tremble of ferns
Pterodactyl wings cast prisms shade bundle
Twists of twilight sing stars like selenite gems
Telescopes of light cast starry onyx galaxies
Threads of silk spider waves like geometric
Clouds of light dust embrace me like the Milky Way
BOTANICALS
Lapis lobelia on the edges of creek beds
Bare feet splashing through rain dances of soft stones
Collecting Ginkgo Leaves in my pockets
Brewing tea and memory in glass cups
Appalachian mysteries weave luminous moon
somewhere
A place exists where the cosmos of us laughs like the poets we are
Paper makers softly dream
Pages of verse folded like Kodachrome Polaroids on 80s dance floors
Pages of graffiti like wild stamps
imagine the impossible
The sacred being

SWIMMING WITH HAFEZ
Before the sun illuminates the horizon
She steps into the saltwater pool
Water bugs scatter
A fledgling hawk breaks the silence
She writes letters on papyrus
Sealed with wax
posts them with stamps
Hafez is at the sea today
The tavern door awaits his voice
What is this sweet miracle
Pomegranate juice?
What is this prism of light
between water and the break of day?
Meteors call her name
As if to say
Shine brighter for the fall
And she smiles at the suggestion of suffering.
Laughter What is laughter? What is laughter?
It is God waking up! O it is God waking up!
It is the sun poking its sweet head out
From behind a cloud
You have been carrying too long,
Veiling your eyes and heart.
It is Light breaking ground for a great Structure
That is your Real body—called Truth.
It is happiness applauding itself and then taking flight
To embrace everyone and everything in this world.
Laughter is the polestar
Held in the sky by our Beloved,
Who eternally says,
“Yes, dear ones, come this way,
Come this way toward Me and Love!
