Persimmon
The heavy, green bough above my round head
I reach above
my small palm
itches with curious hunger
a small orange fruit beckons
its name
I do not know
But being a child of the
Wild wood
I forage often
I pluck the soft, furry flesh and
take a bite
My round lips pucker
My brown eyes close
A bit bitter and so…
