Good morning, Liz, and the Lovely Lovelets all! Thank you Taylor for your voice, earnest and calm. And your hearts too. It’s a gorgeous day here. Warm sun. Peaceful hounds. I wrote a poem earlier. My Letter from Calm is below. And Liz, if I may be so bold, I love you, friend, just the way you are. May you de-light in the company of calm whenever and wherever you travel—3/17/24
Sunday
The Unfolding
There’s a certain solace
In allowing the day
to unfold
To notice the song
of each winged creature
like staccato
To unplan any expectations
of itinerary
Or progress
To welcome squeaky wooden floors
Under bare feet
And Dogs paws tapping like Alvin Alley
Closing your eyes
to feel the warm, bright sun star
from the East
falling on olive trees
growing towards peace
What wild wonder
this goshen is
This effervescent
Spring
Of seeds sprouting
Fall bulbs
breaking through the dark,
sandy soil to greet
unexpected visitors
the clouds
blanket
of cornflower blue
guides our eyes
beyond
In the present I am
Here
Dear Love,
What would you have me know about calm?
My staccato snapdragon,
the center of you is dancing
Yes, that dervish mind distracts you
And pulls you away from calm
Calm is the soft sun
The trees be-ing trees
The wind be-ing wind
The sea be-ing sea
In solitude, grasshopper
you are calm
Me beside you
You beside me
Humming like
Harmony
Harmony
Harmony
It is not required, gentle one,
to be less alive
Less electric
Less vibrant
The heart vibration
is tuned to every moment
The rest like discordant compositions
plays
Embrace it all
Love,
Calm
